Around the Supper Table

We gather around our supper table daily to share with family. Not only do we enjoy the hugs and laughter, but it gives us an opportunity to share our journey with each other so that we can strengthen and encourage one another.

We have created this blog in hopes that our struggles, and sometimes revelations, can help you. We know that life can be difficult, but it is only through Him that we “live, and move, and have our being . . .” as stated in Acts 17:28. He hasn’t taken our struggle from us, but He has given us purpose in our struggles that we may help each other. We appreciate feedback and prayer requests.

In Matthew 11:28-30 it reminds us to, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Around the Supper Table #119 – Good Seed

Around the Supper Table #118 – Go Ye into all the World

Recently, while finishing up dinner around the supper table, Pa asked us what our role was in the Kingdom?  And then it progressed to who are we most like in the Bible?  These were difficult questions for me to answer. ..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #117 – What is Your Excuse?

The Bible says that when we are hearers of the word, but not doers of the word, it is like someone who sees himself in a mirror then walks away forgetting what he has seen.  To me that means that..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #116 – Children of the Tribe III – Leadership

Last time I wrote about Godly discipline of children. I discussed how discipline was primarily training a child and how punishment may be part of this, but it is not the core of discipline (Proverbs 22:6).  This week I want..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #115 – Children of the Tribe II – Discipline

Last week I wrote a blog about some of the core ways a parent raises their children to be psychologically healthy and have a good relationship with God.  These included unconditional love, discipline, and the belief that God has a..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #114 – Children of the Tribe

When I was in school, my performance was less than stellar. What other kids were able to get done in class, I usually took home for homework. I was always amazed in school that kids said they were bored. I..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #113 – What Lives on After Us: Legacy

When my kids were little, I was able to earn extra money as a freelance writer. One of the most interesting assignments was writing speeches. I worked for a hospital foundation that had an awards dinner each year honoring a..... Read More

1 Corinthians 12:25-27, “So that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part..... Read More
