“And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.”

That verse speaks to us about America as no other time. It seems today that all Americans are crying, “Hosanna.” Oh, I wish their cry was to Jesus, but alas it is not. MAGA people are calling to ‘Trump Hosanna.’ Left leaning people are crying to ‘Biden Hosanna.’ The truth is that neither can save us.
First, man cannot save us, and secondly, we are so divided as Americans. What is so different than any other time in history? The division between Americans goes so deep that it touches the very belief system and moral code of every individual, whether you’re political or not.
The beliefs of the left are totally unacceptable to the right and vice versa, because we hold our political beliefs fundamental to our core values. There is no room to compromise. No one can accept the other viewpoint. Each side demonizes the other. Each speak as if the other side is an evil enemy that must be conquered for the prize: America and OUR way of life.
Our personal freedoms – our right to think, speak, and believe – are in jeopardy. Those ideas remind me of what history books tell us was the voice before the American Revolution and Civil War. When I was in college during the Vietnam War, I remember the training we received in ROTC. They were preparing us to go to war to fight the Viet Cong. They repeated over and over, “We do not look at the enemy as a person. He is a target. He has no family. He is sub-human. You must shoot and kill him. Give him no mercy. He will give you none.” That sounds like the language I hear on “The View” and news channels.
Yes, like no other time do we need to cry, “Hosanna. Save us.” As I said, there are very desperate times that will require great sacrifices which no one is willing to make. We are so deeply divided that we’d rather see the destruction of America than the opposition succeed. No leader can succeed under those circumstances.
You ask, “How did we get here?” The answer is sin and apathy. Sin from the vast majority that do not belief in God or morality, and apathy from the Christian who goes along with the world and is not obedient to the Word. The Word says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face {Word of God}, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” It could not be more clear or simple. It does not speak to the person that does not recognize God but ‘my people.’
When judgment comes to the sinners, you can escape the Wrath of God if you follow 2 Chronicles 7:14. You must personally listen for God to direct you and obey the voice of God through the Word or the voice of the Holy Spirit.
So let’s get practical. The problems for all of us is going to be
- water,
- food,
- heat, and
- security.
The power grid could go down in chaos or natural disaster. That means no water, with or without wells. There will also be no food from refrigerators or freezers. You could cook, but if you don’t have electricity, you’ll have to have propane stoves. Canning food is good, because it has a longer shelf-life. You can also have barrels to catch rainwater.
The best thing for security is for family and friends to talk to people and form a plan about where to gather to share resources. Find other like-minded people who share your values. If you do your part, God will bless it like the loaves and fishes.
Remember, we come close to having black outs when the temperatures drop. If that happens, the gas stations cannot provide gasoline. Do not despair. Do not be afraid. Your faith and words will carry you. Remember God is enough, more than enough.
