Around the Supper Table

We gather around our supper table daily to share with family. Not only do we enjoy the hugs and laughter, but it gives us an opportunity to share our journey with each other so that we can strengthen and encourage one another.

We have created this blog in hopes that our struggles, and sometimes revelations, can help you. We know that life can be difficult, but it is only through Him that we “live, and move, and have our being . . .” as stated in Acts 17:28. He hasn’t taken our struggle from us, but He has given us purpose in our struggles that we may help each other. We appreciate feedback and prayer requests.

In Matthew 11:28-30 it reminds us to, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

I want to issue my first disclaimer: I do not speak for anyone except myself. If you do not want to hear opinions concerning injustices, fraud, and moral depravity, then you should stop reading right here. What happened in America..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #25 – Introduction of Joseph

Hello everyone. To those who don’t know me, I’m Joseph. To those who truly know me, I’m Jojo, Josephy, Frank; when I’m in trouble, and most frequently (and my favorite), I’m Chaka. If you don’t get the reference, then I..... Read More

It is nearly Thanksgiving. When I think about Thanksgiving, I get a warm family feeling. It is a time to laugh; eat pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and turkey; and play games with everyone. It’s a great time to praise the..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #23 – Love and Empathy

We recently lost a newborn piglet despite all of the pampering from the kids. If it could have been loved back to life, it would be the healthiest animal on the place, but that was not its purpose. Although sad,..... Read More

Turning 60 two years ago and having back surgery in the same year has given me some time for self-reflection. God has blessed me with amazing health my entire life. Instead of giving God glory for it, I have taken..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #21 – Sanctuary: A Place of Safety

Some years ago, a psychiatrist created a little test to determine people’s well-being. It was 4 sentences that describe people in various states of mental health: I’m OK, you’re OK. I’m not OK, you’re OK. I’m OK, you’re not OK...... Read More
