Many years ago, Nana and Pa were at their nephew’s wedding, and the groom’s sister, a professional caterer, served this recipe at the reception. Nana, never being one to hesitate to ask for a recipe, promptly started asking questions and came home with the recipe. Nana has converted it into smaller portions to work for a family meal. Make sure to spread each layer thinly. If the topping gets too thick, the bread may become soggy. It’ll be delicious on any bread, but you’ve got to try it on Aunt Alisa’s homemade French bread served next to a pasta dish. Maybe try Nana’s marinara or homemade Alfredo, too.
