This week, we are excited to feature a supporter and our first guest writer, Debbie McLeod. We appreciate you sharing your experience so that others may be encouraged.

This story is about how God uses us without us realizing it! When asked to write this, it took me back. I texted one of the girls at Sanctuary Family Farms (which I can’t distinguish who’s who) and asked them to pray for this girl whose name is Amy.  At the time, I knew this girl needed prayers and didn’t realize God was using me as a vessel for Him until Kati told me.

Two weeks ago, I was at TJ Maxx (my favorite store), and I overheard a mom and daughter in a heated discussion over clothes for their teenage grandson/son.  I happened to have on my t-shirt which says, “I’m a nurse!  What is your superpower?”  It’s all blinged out, and I love wearing it.  The mom saw my shirt and said that she was also a nurse. I told her that I was retired, and she answered, “I am retired also, but not by choice. I have stage IV cancer.”  I answered, “You know, as nurses we serve an awesome God who still performs miracles if it’s His will.  We both have witnessed many!” She then told me they were on their way to a resort in Florida for vacation and to see a new cancer doctor.  I asked if I could pray for her and her family, and she said yes!

“Dear Lord,” I began, “we come to you today asking that you heal Amy’s cancer if it be your will.  We pray that you are with the physicians in Florida and that you guide them in her treatment.   I pray that you will be with her and her family and keep them safe.  You are an awesome God, and we thank you for all the blessings you have given us!  We love you!  In Jesus name, Amen.”  As quickly as the mother-daughter pair had entered my life, they were gone.

It is our responsibility to go out and spread the Gospel as God puts opportunities in front of us, and I always add, “Don’t use just words!”  In other words, don’t just preach the Gospel.  Stop.  Take time out of your day to show His love through conversation and prayer, even if it is a stranger.  We are all connected through His spirit, and He will convey His message through your sincerity.  I told her about the families at Sanctuary Family Farms that lead a God-filled life, their ministry, and how they’d touched me, so I told her I was going to text them so that they’d pray for her.  I ask for each of you to pray for Amy and her family as well.

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
