Did you ever wish you had a salad with your Asian meals?  Well, Nana did.  She loves a salad at every meal and has convinced most of us to like this unique recipe.  We still call it a salad, because it has cabbage, but it has raw ramen noodles also!  For your shredded cabbage, you can do straight cabbage or add carrots.  Nana also likes pairing this salad with grilled chicken for a complete meal when it is just her and Pa.

Ingredients

Salad

  • 2 packages beef ramen (leave it raw)
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup slivered almonds
  • ½-1 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 pound shredded cabbage mix

Dressing

  • 5 tablespoons vinegar
  • ¾ cup olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 flavor packages from ramen

Instructions
  • Crush the raw ramen.
  • Mix your ramen with the other salad ingredients in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Mix all the dressing ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until sugar and ramen seasoning are suspended. (Nana just puts ingredients in a pint jar with a lid and shakes.)
  • Dress the salad just before serving so that the ramen retains its crunch.
