Pastor Mike, Dad, Pa, . . . whatever you call him shows the relationship that you have with him.  Over the years, Pa has carried out the mission that Christ gave him when he first called him to the ministry, “Tell them that I love them.”  As a result, he’s been instrumental in helping to heal people through God’s love, but the ministry that has probably given him the most return on his love investment has been his family.

Mike and Sarah have been married for more than 50 years now and raised two sons, Christopher and Jeremiah.  Later in life, they adopted their third son, Lee, and all three boys are now guiding their families in the Christian faith.  Since retiring from pastoring a church, these blogs are the result of Pa and the family he’s created in his current ministry wanting to share our life with others in hopes that they will serve Christ as well.

If you want to understand our thoughts behind a blog, get to know the author more, or you’d just rather listen to us, join us on YouTube where we read our blogs, then discuss them with another member of the family, usually Pa.  Trials and Triumphs is also on YouTube.

We also share daily Bible verses on YouTube that are available through phone calls if you contact us.  These daily verses, and the original commentary, are shared by each member of our farm family from the youngest child to the eldest leader.  We pray that the thoughts and prayers that go into preparing these verses and blogs touch you with God’s truth and love, and we appreciate feedback and prayer requests.

Around the Supper Table #168 – Commit and Trust

For whatever reason, I am a ‘prove it’ person. It doesn’t matter how small or simple the idea, I refuse to accept someone’s opinion or fact the first time I hear it, especially if they can’t present a well-informed defense...... Read More

Spicy Chicken and Shrimp

Print Aunt Ky loves spicy dishes and recreating what she’s eaten somewhere else.  She developed this years ago, because every time she went to Carino’s, this is what she ordered.  When she first made it, it was too hot to..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #167 – Call to Arms

I've spent the majority of my adult life dealing with trauma. As a counselor, it is just part of the job. Whether it is a soldier talking about losing his best friend or a young boy talking about losing his..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #166 – God’s Plan is Good

My 26-year-old son recently adopted four abandoned kittens. Orphaned animals aren’t that unusual on a farm, but it’s a little hard to see Joseph as a caretaker. Sometimes, he can barely remember to feed himself. But as crazy as that..... Read More

Green Chilis Raja with Cheese

Print When Nana smells green chilis roasting, she wants to make this recipe.  It is a quick go-to for Nana.  She’ll even make it for lunch when she’s especially excited about the chilis she’s picked that day, because you get..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #165 – Prized Possession

I’m not much of a fairytale guy. I didn’t play Prince Charming with my daughter and rescue her from the evil witch, godmother, scary beast, or even read the fairytales to her. But there is a story that I read..... Read More

Hominy and Green Chili Casserole

Print Don’t know if it is just us or not, but hominy versus corn is a big debate in our family.  It seems that either side is love or hate.  There is no in-between, but Nana is closing the divide. ..... Read More
