Our Blog

Around the Supper Table

We gather around our supper table daily to share with family. Not only do we enjoy the hugs and laughter, but it gives us an opportunity to share our journey so that we can strengthen and encourage one another.

We have created this blog in hopes that our struggles, and sometimes revelations, can help you. We know that life can be difficult, but it is only through Him that we “live, and move, and have our being . . .” (Acts 17:28).  He hasn’t taken our struggle from us, but He has given us purpose in our struggles that we may help each other.

In Matthew 11:28-30 it reminds us to, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

If you want to understand our thoughts behind a blog, get to know the author more, or you’d just rather listen to us, join us on YouTube where we read our blogs, then discuss them with another member of the family, usually Pa.  Trials and Triumphs is also on YouTube.

We also share daily Bible verses on YouTube that are available through phone calls if you contact us.  These daily verses, and the original commentary, are shared by every member of our farm family from the youngest child to the eldest leader.  We pray that the thought and prayers that go into preparing these verses and blogs touch you with God’s truth and love, and we appreciate feedback and prayer requests.

Around the Supper Table #79 – The Cost of Friendship

Check the box, ring the bell, I walked to the front of the church, prayed the sinner’s prayer, and was baptized shortly thereafter. I can remember the feel of the conviction to give my heart to Christ like it was..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #78 – Wait on God

I think that sometimes whenever God says, “Not right now,” it’s almost more difficult than a “No.”  I’m a very all-or-nothing person.  I’ve always been like that, so when God says, “Not right now.  Wait.” I really struggle. It’s like..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #77 – Abandoning My Obligation

Jesus is my friend. I struggle to wrap my mind around that thought. It seems so audacious. God is above me. How can we even be friends? Friendship is a free association, and my religious background has always emphasized guilt..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #76 – Thankful for ALL Things, Even Anxiety

As we leave the season of thanksgiving behind us, I am still pondering on the things I am thankful for in life.  Of course, the most commonly referenced come to mind: family, health, etcetera, and I am very thankful for..... Read More

Around the Supper Table #75 – Thanksgiving

It’s awesome that this is the week of Thanksgiving.  Just the name implies there is something to expect when we apply the word Thanksgiving to our lives.  Jesus celebrated Thanksgiving every day that he gave thanks to the God of…..
